Online Tobacco Module Instructions

The Florida AHEC Network provides free, quality medical learning and clinical skills training modules for Florida’s health care students and professionals.

  1. Visit the website http://www.larasig.com.
  2. Choose “Florida AHEC” to take a standard online tobacco course.
  3. For professionals, there are other options are available. Larasig can automatically submit your credit request to CEBroker. A valid professional ID and professional code are required.
    1. Other options are available for additional video training.
  4. Step 1: Create an account or log in.
    1. You must be a registered user to start your training. If you are not a registered user, please follow the prompts to create an account. You will be asked to enter a user name or email address and a password. If you have an account, please log in.
  5. Step 2: Complete the demographic profile.
  6. Step 3: Complete the tobacco pre-test.
  7. Step 4: Under “Complete the Courses,” you can review and select a course.
    1. Review the course participation requirements and then continue to the next page.
      1. Course credit is awarded at a program level rather than a course level. At the end of the program, you will be instructed on how to print out a CME certificate.
      2. Keep track of the amount of time it takes you to complete this course. You will be required to spend a set amount of time in order to claim credit. You should claim credit only for the time actually spent in the activity.
    2. Review the description, overview and objectives and then select “start course.”
    3. Complete the course. At the end there will be a “Summary and Key Points” page for your review.
    4. Proceed to the next page to view your transcript and access your letter of completion. You may also continue with taking another course from this page.
    5. Save and email your certificate of completion or print it and return it to the professor or designated person.


Online Tobacco Module Instructions

  1. Visit the website www.aheceducation.com.
    1. Before accessing the online modules, your computer will need to have Windows Media Player (for the audio/visual component of the course) and Adobe Reader (for the PDF documents). Links are provided on the site if you need to upgrade or download either.
  2. Select the link under either the blue or red tab on the left hand side.
  3. Before you are able to access the modules, you must first create a login so select the tab Create Elearning Profile. (You may want to write down the User Name & Password you select for future access.)
  4. At the top of the screen select tab: Course Catalog.
    1. Select the category: Tobacco Dependency-Health Care Professional.
  5. Select each module individually by name.
    1. When you click on each module, the course details will then be provided including abstract, speaker information, etc.
      1. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of this screen and select the tab: Add to Cart.
  6. Under the tab My Cart scroll to the bottom of the screen & select the tab Check Out. Please note, you will NOT be required to pay any costs for accessing these modules.
  7. Under Checkout, select the check box at the top Billing address same as address on file. (Please note, all tobacco courses are FREE.)
    1. Under Payment, select the Activation Code button.
      1. An Activation Box will appear and you will need to enter the code: tob001. (Please note, activation code is case sensitive.)
  8. You will then be directed to My Current Courses where you can begin selecting the modules to view.
    1. Select one of the modules and click on the Course Number to begin taking the pretest.
    2. Upon completing the pretest, you will be provided your % score and the questions you answered wrong.
    3. After viewing this, select the tab Continue to Lesson.
  9. You will be directed to the page Lesson Display where the goals, objectives, etc. are included.
    1. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen to access the tab Download PowerPoint Handouts if you choose to.
    2. Then select the tab Lesson to begin.
    3. Upon completing the lesson, select the tab Take Exam
      1. You must receive a 75% or higher to pass and complete the module.
    4. One you have successfully passed the exam, select the tab Take Survey. (Please note, this is required to receive a certificate.)
      1. Answer the course survey & select Submit.
    5. You will then be directed to the Course Certificate screen and select View Certificate.
      1. A PDF screen will appear with the option to print and/or save the document. (It is recommended you do both for your professional development records.)
  10. If you are ready to begin your next module, select the tab View My Courses and continue by clicking on the next module.
  11. When you have completed all of the modules and steps, or to resume at another time, select the Log Out tab.
